2017 Harvest in Full Swing at Andis Wines & Coming Wine Events

Our Wines      Club Andis       Visit Us      What's On Tap

If you had asked us two weeks ago, we would have told you we'd be taking the long holiday weekend off, relaxing at the lake with a chilled bottle of Andis Semillon. But sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. This latest heat wave sent many wineries into a picking frenzy. The field numbers that looked nice and stable not two days prior were starting to jump all over the place. In just a 4-day window we ended up picking and processing all of the white and rose grapes, and not long after, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Barbera were all ready to come in!

As if the harvest season wasn't busy enough!
Join us for one or more of these upcoming events.

Wine on 49 Hosts Farm to Fork Gold Rush Style Dinner - Sat Sept 23

Al Fresco Dinner and Dancing to Raise funds for Knight Foundry Restoration

Saturday, September 23 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wine on 49 which represents Sutter Creek’s wineries will host a gala dinner complete with live music and dancing. The dinner benefits the restoration efforts for the Knight Foundry.

As part of Amador County’s industrial heritage, the foundry tells the story of how local industry created and contributed to the viability of the Mother Lode.

From precision equipment for hard-rock gold mines, the lights of San Francisco and the impulse turbine systems that powered many of the state’s hydroelectric plants, the Foundry helped build California.

As the last water-powered foundry and machine shop in America and one of the nation’s best preserved 19th-century industrial complexes it has been named by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America’s Eleven Most Endangered Historic Places.

The meal will take place on locally handcrafted farm tables set in the middle of Eureka Street with the Knight Foundry as the backdrop. The five course meal is inspired by the cuisine of the Gold Rush days, focusing on the provisions available at that time, and foraged locally now.

Appetizers will be served in in the 'saloon' and will be followed with a family style dinner of  botanical greens with local chevre and grilled figs, wild salmon, coal roasted vegetables, wood oven leg of lamb and open 'fired' chickens.

Tracey Berkner, sommelier and Taste Restaurant owner, will pair a sampling of wines with each course. Handmade pie and ice cream complete the dinner.

Americana band The Pine Street Ramblers will entertain. Hailing from the Sierra Nevada foothills, they are a four piece string band performing bluegrass, country, old-time and good old-fashion roots rock. Their live show is a raucous powerhouse that deftly showcases their songwriting prowess in the context of foot stompin' good times and remarkable collective instrumental chops.

Pine Street Ramblers
Tickets are $129 per person and are available at Wine on 49.com. Ticket price includes dinner and dancing as well as a Wine on 49 tasting certificate for all 11 tasting rooms in Sutter Creek on Sunday, September 24th. The dinner is part of Sutter Creek's Heritage Days, a weekend celebrating Sutter Creek’s unique history and legacy.
