Sutter Creek, CA: Saturday, May 16 at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the Sutter Creek Elementary school’s winemaking families, Drytown Cellars, Karmere Winery and Feist Wines along with adopted BellaGrace Vineyards will come together at the inviting BellaGrace tasting room in the center of downtown Sutter Creek.
The wine tasting will feature farm to fork tapas, a jazz trio and a lively auction and raffle. Provisions will supply guests with craft beer. Savor Amador will support art, music, and physical education in the Sutter Creek Elementary Schools.
Drytown Cellars is owned by the Kreutzer family who have a daughter in sixth grade at the school as well as a son who attended Sutter Creek elementary and is graduating from Amador High School this year.
The winery is dedicated to producing great wines, well balanced and intense. Striving to preserve the distinct fruit characteristics of the grapes they process, single varietal wines are a focus but the Kreutzers also believe that blending enhances a wine. This is evident in their non-vintage table wine “Red on Red” a Zinfandel based blend.
Drytown took two notable awards at the 2014 Amador County Fair Wine Competition, receiving a medal for Best Amador Zinfandel for a 2011 Amador County Zinfandel and Best Amador Iberian wine for their 2013 Verdelho - Amador County.
The family purchased the 40 acres that the winery is on in 2000 and the winery opened in 2011. In 2006 Drytown went green, installing a 19.7 kilowatt solar system.
Allen Kreutzer is a veteran of winemaking and vineyard management. He earned a BS in Fermentation Science at UC Davis and in 1990 received a masters degree in agricultural chemistry from Fresno State.
Suzanne Kreutzer has a masters degree in Economics from UC Santa Cruz and a BS from UC Davis.
They will pour their wines paired with San Francisco jazz led by guitarist Jack Tone Riordan, a graduate of Sutter Creek Elementary school. His mother, Lottie Tone is a favorite teacher at the school.
Tickets are $40 and are available at participating wineries and at savoramador2015.eventbrite.com.
