Andis Wines Update - May 24, 2013

Our First Chenin Blanc: 91 Points!

Andis Wines 2012 Chenin Blanc, Clarksburg
In 2012 we embarked on a quest to create yet another delicious white wine, but this time with a little something "extra". Mark was able to get his hands on some lovely Chenin Blanc grapes from Herzog Vineyard in Clarksburg so he figured why not?
As one of the world's most widely planted and versatile grape varieties, Chenin Blanc was once wildly popular in California and for good reason! It's been used to make everything from Sparkling wines to well-balanced dessert wines.
Our inaugural 2012 Chenin Blanc is ultra delicious and an incredible example of how this grape thrives here. Highly expressive aromas of white roses and orange peel introduce a softly textured wine hinting of honey, cream and lemon tea. Slightly sweet and wickedly tasty, it has just garnered Andis another 91 point score from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Not a bad first go-around, eh?
Best enjoyed in a lawn chair by the pool with a pair of sunglasses.
Only 261 cases produced
.

"I have always loved the sound of the nylon string guitar accompanied by the sounds of the flamenco music. We are also asking our loyal customers to share their favorite recipes to add to the collection. Email us your favorite recipes with recommended Deaver wine pairing and you may soon find it in our new recipe page.
How are the vines doing?
The vines have begun to grow; filling out into big, beautiful vines creating a spectacular view you don't want to miss. We are hard at work in the vineyards suckering, or removing ground level canes that will not yield grapes. This allows the vine to concentrate nutrients into those canes that will yield the crop of 2013.
Have a question about vines, wine, winemaking, etc? Send us an email, and your question may appear in a future edition of the Deaver Dish.

Recipes for Wine Lovers
Roasted Italian Pork Tenderloin
Featured at "Festa della Mamma"
Serve with Avio's 2009 Barbera
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup fresh rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons fine sea salt
  • 1 (4 1/2- to 5-lb) rib section center-cut pork loin, boned, meat reassembled with bones, and tied by butcher
Mince together garlic and rosemary. Stir together with sea salt in a small bowl and season with pepper. Rub 1 tablespoon garlic mixture all over pork. Beginning at 1 end of loin, make a 3/4-inch slit with a long thin knife through center of loin to other end. Stuff slit with remaining garlic mixture, pushing it through with handle of a long wooden spoon. Marinate at room temperature 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Put loin, fat side up, on a rack in a roasting pan and roast in middle of oven until an instant-read thermometer inserted diagonally at least 2 inches into meat registers 155°F, about 2 hours. Let pork stand, loosely covered, 20 minutes.
Discard string. Separate loin from bones and cut meat crosswise into 3/4-inch-thick slices. If desired, serve bones cut into ribs.
Note: ·Roast may be rubbed and stuffed with garlic mixture 1 day ahead and chilled, covered. Bring to room temperature before roasting.
