Dinner for Saint Patrick's Day - Sun Mar 17

Sunday March 17th is Saint Patrick's Day don't you know. Which of course means that there will be fabulous dinner at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium. As in years past we will be serving the traditional meal we all love as well as one other entree.

Number one:

Succulent Corn Beef with Cabbage, Red Potatoes and  carrots.

Number two:

Baked  Beef Wellington with side of fresh Vegetables and slices of red potato.

Each entree will be served with a garden salad, our famous garlic rolls, beverage and desert.

As always, bring your bottle of wine and your happy face and enjoy the evening in the company of friends and great food.

$22 per person.

The 2013 edition of “Behind the Cellar Door,” a Passport to the World” is scheduled for the weekend of March 2th – 3rd from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tastings of wines from barrel and bottle at 36 Amador County wineries – accompanied by a diverse array of gourmet foods and live music – Amador’s vintners will offer a panoply of entertaining seminars designed to enhance attendees’ knowledge and appreciation of wine varietals from around the world.

Mark your calendars! March marks the release of the much anticipated 2009 Ten Zins! Do not delay, this wine is sure to sell out fast.
How are the vines doing? The vines are enjoying their rest during the winter season. Within a few weeks, we will begin pruning our vines, preparing them for a full and successful 2013. Pruning cuts off the canes (branches) from the previous year to allow for new growth.  Often, up to 90% of previous growth from is cut to allow the vine to continue grow. Pruning is also a great way to train, or control, the size, appearance, crop, etc of your vine. 
The picture to the right shows one of our younger vines after pruning. Highlighted are the small portion of the canes from the previous years growth. Vine growth from 2013 will begin from these canes.

Deaver Spring Lamb

It's that time of year again! As the grass begins to turn green, flowers begin to blossom the Deaver's very own lambs are just about ready. Deaver lamb is free range and sold by the half or whole. Full of mouthwatering flavors, you will be reluctant to share such a delicacy with your friends and family.
Email or call the tasting room at 209-245-4099 today to reserve your lamb, sold by the half or whole lamb. We anticipate lamb being available for pickup mid-March.
